TMFR Alumni

Here at Toronto Met Formula Racing (formerly Ryerson Formula Racing) our alumni often go on from the team to work for some of the world’s most elite engineering companies, working on innovative ideas and solving countless engineering challenges. We are proud to call them our alumni and seek every year to create a team of leaders who will find success in their careers and carry on the legacy of Toronto Met Formula Racing.

  • Mallory Maynard

“Ryerson Formula Racing was the best part of my University career. It is where my full appreciation for STEM grew and where I met some of the most fantastic people I know. I couldn't imagine my time at Ryerson without the team.”

  • Alexandra Lincoln

“RFR was a transformative experience for me. I learned fundamental managerial, communication and operational skills that I’ve incorporated into my working experiences, and have made lasting friendships formed through years filled with many powerful moments. I am happy to have come across what turned out to be one of the best university experiences a student could ask for.”

  • Ariel Gil

“On a personal note it helped me gain the design and manufacturing skills to fulfill a personal childhood dream (building a bike). But the whole experience fulfilled many dreams I never expected I would have. Its a bit cliché but its exactly the "people you meet along the way" kind of experience. A great primer to the "real world" where many of the problems we struggled with (and overcame) still exist.”

  • Sina Akhlaghizadeh

He says that being a part of the team was the most incredible experience of his life while at university. Watching the car race on the track and cross the finish line was, in his eyes, the best feeling of achievement imaginable, knowing that he had been a part of the team that built that car from the ground up.

  • Theo Bruulsema

“RFR gave me my first real taste of motorsport, and is therefore responsible for my current racing addiction (and employment!) The friendships I made and the opportunities to use what I was learning were exactly what I needed to stay motivated in my final years of undergrad.”

  • Tal Zaitsev

What he loved most about RFR is not just the deep bond he formed with his peers through a common goal of building the best car possible year after year, but also the opportunities for gaining hands-on knowledge and experience that you simply cannot get in a classroom environment.

He believes that RFR is what you make of it, and although it is a lot of work and a huge time commitment, as soon as you see your car take off for the very first time, you know it was worth it.

  • Michael Salameh

“Through teamwork, discipline, knowledge and believing in one's self, anything is possible.”

  • Sabrina Vila

“RFR was one of the most rewarding experiences I had in University. It taught me valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, and problem solving, all while building a racecar and working a fantastic group of people I have the privilege to call friends.”
